Not necessarily. If your existing worktops are suitable and you want to keep your layout, a made-to-measure quartz overlay could give you a new surface without removing them. This page introduces that alternative; it is not an offer to remove your old worktops and fit full-depth replacements.

Many overlay installations can be completed in a day, depending on the size, layout and work involved. We’ll confirm what is needed for your kitchen and the expected fitting time before you go ahead.

Suitability depends on the condition of your existing worktops, their support and your kitchen layout. At your free home visit, we will check these along with the edges, sink and hob. An overlay is not a way to hide a failing surface; we will explain any issues and the work needed before you decide.

Use chopping boards for food preparation and trivets or heat mats under hot pans. Your adviser will explain the care guidance for your chosen finish, so you know how to look after it.

The price depends on your dimensions, layout, chosen finish and any associated work.
