Project Overview

Ajit wanted to refresh a modern grey kitchen without changing the existing cabinetry or layout. By updating the worktops to new Bulgaria Dark quartz overlays, the space now feels brighter and more refined while keeping the original design intact. The marble-effect surface ties the gloss doors, tiled splashback and appliances together for a calm, contemporary look.

What We Changed

This was a worktops-only makeover. We replaced the dated laminate surfaces with Bulgaria Dark quartz overlays, running them seamlessly around the perimeter and across the island. Matching upstands were added to give a neat junction with the grey brick-style tiles, and careful templating ensured a precise finish around the large black sink and gas hob. The overlays were fitted directly over existing worktops — no messy rip‑outs — for less disruption and a quicker install.

The Result

The new Bulgaria Dark quartz surfaces introduce a light, marble-effect finish that softens the strong grey tones of the gloss units and tiled splashbacks. The long, uninterrupted runs of worktop emphasise the clean lines of the kitchen, while the island now forms a striking centrepiece around the hob. Overall, Ajit has gained a more luxurious and practical workspace, with durable, easy-to-clean worktops that complement the rest of the room.
