Mark’s Bedford kitchen had solid, serviceable units but the orangey wood tones and dated laminate surfaces were making the space feel dark and busy. Joe’s Doors refreshed the room with a softer, heritage-inspired palette and bright, marble-style worktops to create a calmer, more contemporary space. By keeping the existing carcasses, we were able to deliver a major visual change with less disruption and waste.
The original wood-effect doors were replaced with classic Taunton doors in Reed Green Superior Matt, bringing a muted, characterful tone that works well with the light walls and wood-effect flooring. This new door style runs across base units, wall units and the tall larder cupboard, tying the whole room together and adding a more bespoke feel.
The old laminate worktops were upgraded to Calacatta Canyon quartz overlays, fitted directly over existing worktops — no messy rip‑outs — for less disruption and a quicker install. The subtle veining of the quartz brightens the U-shaped run around the hob and sink, and continues onto the breakfast bar, helping to bounce natural light deeper into the room.

The tall Taunton cupboard and matching base units create generous, well-organised storage, while the bright breakfast bar offers a practical spot for food prep or casual dining. Overall, Mark has gained a lighter, more modern kitchen that still feels warm and welcoming, without the upheaval of a full refit.
