Hertfordshire Kitchen Transformation

Project Overview

Annette wanted her open-plan kitchen in Hertfordshire to feel warmer and more inviting without changing the successful layout. By updating the cabinetry fronts only, we were able to soften the look of the room and create a calmer backdrop to the light worktops and natural wood flooring. The new finish brings a more refined, timeless style while keeping the practical family-friendly space she already enjoyed.

What We Changed

We replaced the original glossy pale grey slab doors with new Horton doors in Taupe Matt across the main run of units, tall housings and island. The classic framed profile of Horton, combined with the soft Taupe Matt colour, introduces subtle detail and a gentler tone around the hob, ovens and tall fridge. On the island, the same doors add a warmer contrast beneath the pale worktop and pendant lights, helping to visually link the kitchen with the wood flooring and adjoining living area. Existing cabinets, appliances and worktops were all retained, keeping the project focused, efficient and cost-effective.

The Result

The kitchen now feels noticeably softer and more balanced, with the Taupe Matt finish flattering both the natural light from the sliding doors and the warmth of the timber floor. The framed Horton design adds character without feeling fussy, and the updated island cabinetry helps the kitchen sit comfortably within the wider open-plan space. Annette has a fresher, more elegant look, achieved purely by changing the doors and keeping the rest of the room intact.
