🎄 Christmas magic in Skewen Park

On Sunday 7th December, Skewen Park was transformed into a festive wonderland for the Coedffranc Christmas Fair – and Joe’s Doors was proud to support the event as one of this year’s sponsors.

Despite a very wet start, the fair quickly filled with families, music and twinkling lights, proving that a bit of rain can’t dampen Christmas spirit in Skewen.

Expect the smell of hot chocolate, music drifting across the green, and little ones tugging your sleeve toward the ice rink, craft stalls, and funfair. It’s the kind of afternoon that makes a village feel like a Christmas card—neighbours chatting, mittens waving from the rink, and a twinkle of bells when the sleigh arrives.

Come wrapped up and ready to wander. We’ll be there too, proud to play a small part in a big day for Coedffranc.

Bringing Christmas to Skewen Park

From the moment the gates opened, there was something for everyone to enjoy:

• Santa’s grotto, where excited children queued to share their wish lists and leave with a smile and a small gift
• Friendly reindeer, patiently meeting visitors of all ages and adding a touch of North Pole magic to the day
• A lively ice rink, busy with first-timers clinging to the sides and more confident skaters gliding around
• A colourful funfair, complete with rides, music and laughter echoing across the park
• Rows of stalls and local makers, selling handmade gifts, crafts, decorations and plenty of festive food and treats

Even in the drizzle, the park felt bright, busy and full of holiday cheer.

Weather-Proof Festive Spirit

The first few hours of the fair were marked by heavy showers, but the community’s response was nothing short of brilliant.

Visitors arrived with umbrellas and waterproofs, stallholders kept serving with a smile, and the organisers worked hard to make sure everything ran smoothly until the skies finally cleared.

By mid-afternoon, the park was buzzing – families on the rides, skaters on the rink, children chatting to Santa and people warming up with hot drinks and snacks from the food stalls.

Events like this show just how strong community spirit is in Coedffranc and Skewen.

Why Joe’s Doors Got Involved

While Joe’s Doors installs kitchen makeovers across England, Scotland and Wales, our roots are firmly in South Wales. Supporting events like the Coedffranc Christmas Fair is an important part of how we give back to the areas we work in.

By sponsoring the fair, we wanted to help Coedffranc Town Council:

• Bring a free, family-friendly Christmas event to Skewen Park
• Create an opportunity for local businesses, makers and food vendors to showcase their work
• Give families a chance to make special memories close to home, without having to travel far or spend a fortune
