Following recent news reports about some quartz worktops, we want to make one thing clear:
Our quartz overlay worktops are 100% silica-free.
Quartzize has invested millions into silica-free quartz overlay production, using water-suppressed cutting machinery and controlled factory conditions.
When you spot a Joe’s Doors lorry on the road, it’s usually on its way to transform someone’s kitchen. But on a grey December morning, one of our lorries left Neath with a very different destination and a very different cargo.
This time, we joined James and Michelle from the team on the road to Many Tears Animal Rescue near Llanelli, Carmarthenshire – with the lorry packed full of dog food instead of doors and worktops.
Our Christmas donation will help feed many hungry dogs over the festive period, easing some of the pressure on a rescue that works tirelessly all year round.
Who Are Many Tears Animal Rescue?
Many Tears Animal Rescue is a busy, independent rescue centre based just outside Llanelli. They take in dogs from all sorts of backgrounds:
Ex-breeding dogs who have never known life as a pet
Strays who’ve found themselves with nowhere to go
Much-loved dogs whose owners, for many different reasons, can no longer keep them
The team provides vet care, warmth, safety and time for each dog to recover and learn to trust again, before carefully matching them with loving new homes. It’s emotional work, done with huge compassion – and it never really stops.
For this visit, our lorry wasn’t carrying quartz overlays or replacement doors. Instead, it was loaded with boxes of dog food wrapped with bright red ribbons, ready to be unloaded at the rescue.
When James and Michelle arrived at Many Tears, they were welcomed by the team and shown around the site:
Rows of kennels with hopeful faces peering out
Exercise areas where nervous dogs slowly build confidence
Indoor spaces where older and more vulnerable dogs can stay warm and cosy
Seeing it all in person really brought home just how many mouths there are to feed every single day.
Our donation will help feed many dogs over Christmas, keeping bowls full and tails wagging at a time of year when food bills and running costs can be particularly challenging for rescues.
Why This Matters to Us
Joe’s Doors – along with our sister brands Quartzize and Quicktops – is a family-run business based in South Wales. While we now transform kitchens across England, Wales and most of Scotland, our roots are firmly here in our local community.
Supporting organisations like Many Tears is an important part of who we are:
We believe successful businesses should give back where they can
We want to support local charities and projects that make a real, practical difference
We know that our customers care about community just as much as we do
Every kitchen we makeover helps us continue this kind of support. When you choose Joe’s Doors, you’re not just investing in your home – you’re also helping us invest in the people and charities working hard behind the scenes in our communities.
A Thank You to Our Customers – and to Many Tears
We’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to our customers. Your trust in our team is what allows us to make donations like this and to keep building our Community Support programme year after year.
And an equally big thank you goes to everyone at Many Tears Animal Rescue – the staff, volunteers and fosterers who pour their energy into giving dogs a second chance. Spending time with them and hearing some of the rescue stories first-hand was genuinely humbling.
