Project Overview

Colin’s modern white gloss kitchen in Peterborough already had a sleek layout, but the dark solid worktops made the room feel heavier than it needed to. By switching to light, marble-look quartz surfaces, the whole space now feels brighter and more open while keeping the existing cabinetry and layout. The new finish ties in with the flooring and splashbacks for a clean, contemporary look.

What We Changed

Joe’s Doors replaced the original dark worktops with new Green Jade quartz overlays, fitted directly over existing worktops — no messy rip‑outs — for less disruption and a quicker install. The marble-effect surface was continued onto the large central island and down the gable ends to create a seamless, wrapped look. Around the perimeter, the slim, bright worktops sit neatly beneath the existing glass wine-glass splashbacks, softening the contrast with the black sink, hob and appliances while keeping the overall aesthetic crisp and modern.

The Result

The updated kitchen now feels lighter and more refined, with the Jade Green marble-effect worktops reflecting light across the room. The patterning in the quartz links subtly with the veining in the floor tiles, helping the island and runs of units read as one cohesive design. By focusing on the worktops alone, Colin has achieved a significant visual change while keeping his original, high-gloss cabinets in place.
