Project Overview

Peter wanted his modern Penarth kitchen to feel brighter and more refined without replacing his existing cabinetry. By upgrading from wood-effect laminate to elegant Carrara Gold quartz overlays, we created a clean, continuous run of worktops that instantly lifts the whole room. The light surface works with his white units and herringbone floor to give a more open, contemporary feel.

What We Changed

We removed the old warm wood-effect laminate worktops and replaced them with new Carrara Gold quartz overlays, fitted directly over existing worktops — no messy rip‑outs — for less disruption and a quicker install. The new surfaces now wrap smoothly around the U-shaped layout and across the peninsula, with a matching integrated drainer set into the area around the sink. The subtle marble-style veining adds interest while keeping the overall look calm and minimal.

The new Carrara Gold surfaces give Peter’s kitchen a brighter, more cohesive look, with the reflective finish helping to bounce light around the room. The contrast between the pale worktops, dark sink and warm-toned flooring now feels deliberate and balanced, while the generous peninsula provides a smooth, practical space for food prep and casual seating. Overall, the kitchen feels refreshed and more in line with the rest of his modern home, achieved without the cost or disruption of a full refit.
