Hampton Kitchen Transformation

Project Overview

Alexandra wanted to soften and brighten her characterful Hampton kitchen without losing its exposed brick and warm timber floors. Joe’s Doors updated the cabinetry and surfaces, replacing the dark blue scheme with a lighter, more modern palette that still suits the age and style of the home. The result is a calm, contemporary space that feels more open yet remains practical for everyday cooking and entertaining.

What We Changed

The original dark blue Shaker-style doors were replaced with new Taunton doors in Matt Light Grey, made-to-measure to fit Alexandra’s existing cabinets and tall housings. This lighter finish now frames the stainless steel appliances and helps balance the strong brick feature wall.

The old wooden worktops, including the substantial island surface, were upgraded to Calacatta Retro quartz overlays, fitted directly over existing worktops — no messy rip‑outs — for less disruption and a quicker install. Matching upstands were added beneath the brickwork to brighten the preparation areas and tie the new surfaces together visually.

The Result

The kitchen now has a noticeably lighter, more relaxed feel. The Matt Light Grey Taunton doors soften the run of tall cabinetry and base units, while the bright Calacatta Retro island creates a clean focal point for food prep and socialising. Against the brickwork, the new quartz with upstands reflects more light around the room, giving Alexandra a modern, durable working space that still feels warm and homely.
